Automated Driving Test: The Transparent Way to Getting Driving License

Driving on Indian roads is becoming increasing scary! – The way, the drivers disregard the rules and shows utter incompetency in riding the vehicle has resulted into mounting number of road accidents (some of them are even fatal).

Taking a cue from the belief that there is a strong link between technology and transparency – and as an attempt to make the Two Wheeler and Four Wheeler Driving Test more precise and transparent; the Road transport office (RTO) have brought in the new-age and state-of-the-art system automated driving tracks to see that there is no error or biased evaluation of driving skills and eventually only good and competent drivers get the license to take their vehicles on the road.

We all know, that the manual testing method has its own flaws; right from human errors to impartial attitude of the examiner – All this can apparently lead to discrepancies in the results, thus making the way clear even for an inept driver to get his license.

No matter how sharp we are; but still human eyes are prone to make mistakes.  When manual testing method is employed there are chances that the supervisor might miss some very minor (yet not ignorable at all) mistakes done by the applicant.

However, automated driving test is based on graphic stimulators, and sensors are fitted on the entire track to take note of even the most minor error. Thus, the chance of any flaws or discrepancy goes down to the minimum. Subsequently, what you get is extremely precise results, and so, the end-result is an efficient person handling the wheels.

Secondly, the process of license issuance becomes prompt – With RTOs getting around 400-500 entries daily on an average and with few inspectors, it becomes very tough to clear out the applications promptly. The applicants have to pass through the endless waiting process; however, the automated testing system; thus minimizes the waiting period.
It becomes quick and within minimum time, one can easily secure the driver’s license. The applicants only need to fill up an online appointment form and reach to the RTO office to designated time.

Moreover, it is usually seen that there is lack of transparency in the overall process of issuing the license. With the automated system, the level of transparency can be maintained. Since, it is all computerized, the results cannot be tampered. Also, there is least human intervention, therefore, the chances of having a biased or prejudiced result reduces manifold.

Apart from all, automated driving test makes the process becomes more streamlined and effective.

Automated Driving Track: A New-Age Tool to test Driving Skills

Indians are one of the world's "worst" drivers! - No, this is not a frustrated statement nor it is something that I am fabricating - Surveys and studies conducted by world renowned agencies have come up with a shocking result; India tops the chart when it comes to fatal road accidents.

The Indian drivers have become more reckless and careless and they hardly care about the traffic rules. And to curb this serious problem and bring out the "best drivers" on the roads, RTO (Regional Transport Office) have introduced automated Driving tracks.

Earlier to get the driver's license the applicants had to pass through a driving test; where they had to demonstrate making an '8 pattern'  and it was be done by any RTO personnel. Now, taking a cue from the developed nations and to make an effort to bring the cases of road accidents, this innovation has been at present introduced in few Indian cities.

It is nothing, but a state-of-the-art tool which helps the RTO personnel to judge the driving ability of the applicant. At present only activated in few major cities and centers, this path-breaking implementation is seen as a major step towards countering the terrible traffic sense and control the rising number of fatal accidents.

Earlier the applicant driver used to give a driving test, with a RTO personnel supervising and preceding over the test. Well, this type of testing method sometimes results in erroneous or biased observation (after all, it is observed by a 'human' and humans are prone to make mistakes and tend to form a biased attitude).  But, this won't be the case anymore!

With this innovative and advanced tool it becomes a matter of few minutes – The would-be drivers have to pass through a graphical stimulator. And mind well, it is not as simple as making an '8 riding' pattern!
The entire track is fitted with sensors which notes any mistakes and even notes it down. Hence, the final result will almost be error-free and unprejudiced.

In short, the driving skills are evaluated exceptionally well. Now, do you think this is a tough tool, which cannot be handled or used by a layman. No, this is not entirely correct – It is designed in a manner that it is extremely easy to use, so can anyone; be it a graduate or an illiterate anyone can use it without any difficulties. (It will not affect the results at all).   Moreover, it will even point out the reckless drivers and hence no license is issued to them.
